GOOD EARTH MEDICINALS European herbalism owes much to the work of herbalists who sought ways of maintaining health naturally so that modern medical interventions, such as surgery and drugs, would not be needed. Johann Kuenzle (1857-1945) was Switzerland's most famous herbalist. His small book, Herbs and Weeds (published in 1911 and revised in 1975), sold over one million copies in Europe. Kuenzle learned both from contemporary local herb authorities, such as Father Kneipp (who's teachings remain highly influential in the European tradition), and from the long history of recorded herbal information, such as that of the famous 16th-century German authority Jacob Dietrich. Over the past 100 years, the ingredients of Kuenzle's formulas have been investigated with increasingly sophisticated scientific techniques. The individual herbs have been subjected to chemical analysis, pharmacological testing, and, in some cases, clinical trials. Thus, the Kuenzle formulas as they come down to us today are derived from a long history of herbal wisdom, have been widely used by millions of Europeans over many decades, and are confirmed in their safety and efficacy by modern research. The constituents, activities, and applications for the herbs used in the tea blends are recorded in the British Herbal Pharmacopoeia, the German Commission E Monographs, and Herbal Medicine (Expanded Commission E Monographs). Herbal formulas designed by Kuenzle have been manufactured in Minusio, Switzerland since 1924, with international distribution. More recently, they have been manufactured in Germany, where herbs are regulated in the same manner as pharmaceuticals. Good Earth Medicinals has imported 7 of the most popular Kuenzle formulas, and added 1 new formula designed on the basis of his methodology, to further this well-respected European tradition in the U.S. The ingredients are tested, processed, blended, and then packaged by licensed factories that are among the most technologically-sophisticated of their kind anywhere in the world.
Each teabag contains 1.7 grams of herb materials. Each box contains 15 individually-wrapped tea bags. Steep tea bags in 5-8 ounces of boiled water for 5-7 minutes before consuming; add honey or other sweetener if desired. Recommended dosage listed above is for adults and children 12 years of age or older; for children under the age of 12, consult a physician (Digestive Tea is suitable for children ages 6-12 at half the adult dosage). |
