People's Herbs is located in Portland, Oregon and is managed by two acupuncturists, Carter Blue and Bob Quinn. The company features both Chinese and Western herbs. The principal Chinese herb materials are concentrated extracts imported by China Herbs and Natural Products, Incorporated (CHNPI), from top manufacturers in China. Western herbs include tinctures, teas, and essential oils from U.S. and U.K. sources. Also, People's Herbs provides specialty supplies for practitioners, such as TDP lamps (shown right), used to provide continuous uniform heating to areas of the body that are in spasm or pain.

Ganoderma (reishi).

An area of expertise at People's Herbs is mushroom extracts, including popular items such as cordyceps, ganoderma (reishi; pictured left), coriolus (source of the polysaccharide product called PSK), maitake, shiitake, and others. These extracts are usually used to promote immune functions. They have been recommended to protect the immune system of persons undergoing cancer therapies. In addition to individual mushroom extracts, People's Herbs offers their popular Five Mushroom Formula. Many mushroom formulas on the market use mushroom powders, rather than the more costly mushroom extracts used here to get a very concentrated source of medicinal polysaccharides. Each capsule contains (figures in parenthesis are the concentration factors): 75 mg shiitake (12:1); 75 mg reishi (20:1); 100 mg maitake (15:1); 125 mg cordyceps (4:1); and 125 mg coriolus (20:1). The recommended dosage is 2 capsules each time, 2 times per day.
