Sen is a new name in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). ITM (and its preventive health care subdivision, Jintu) would like you to know about it, especially because of the information resources that are being provided on Sen's web site (www.senhealth.com). Sen is an international collaborative project aimed at demonstrating how TCM can be utilized during the 21st century. Issues faced include: determination of herb safety; evaluation of raw materials quality; assuring good control over manufacturing; comprehensive testing of finished products; meeting the latest labeling requirements; and informing the public about the TCM concepts that are needed to effectively use the herbs. In 2002, Sen opened its first outlet in London, where it displays 33 tableted herb formulas (see photo below). The store is staffed with registered herbalists who are familiar with Chinese herb prescribing. In addition to tablets, the Sen store provides customized formulas in granule form, and several liquid preparations, such as decoctions, teas, and herb-juice blends.
