Ayurvedic Syrup is made by Universal Medicaments of Nagpur, India, a leading manufacturer of Ayurvedic products. The formula is sold in India as Unicough where it is one of the country's most popular cough syrups. The main ingredients are the leaves of Adhatoda vasica (pictured left), the gum resin of Acacia catechu, and the aromatic holy basil (Ocimum sanctum). The complex mixture of herbs is augmented by the essential oils menthol and thymol. The syrup is suitable for children and adults, with a dose of 1-2 teaspoons, three times daily. Adhatoda is also featured as a main ingredient, along with holy basil, in the tableted formula Coprid, available in the Herbs from India line of tableted formulas (herb extracts manufactured by Universal Medicaments, tablets manufactured by Institute for Traditional Medicine).
